Lead Service Line Replacement
The Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act requires lead service lines to be replaced throughout the nation and State of Illinois. As provided in the Act, residents with lead service lines may be required to replace their lead service line when the Village is replacing the water main in the street or when their service line requires repairs. If a lead service line requires the replacement of a portion of the service line, the property owner must promptly notify the Village, apply for and receive a permit for the work, and replace the entire lead service line with alternative material. The work must be completed by an IL licensed plumber with a valid La Grange contractor registration.
In response to the the Act, the Village presented information regarding the Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act at a workshop on July 11, 2022.
The Village maintains an inventory of service line material in an interactive map. In the event that you would like to verify your service line material, please contact a licensed plumber or visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - Quick Check for Lead Guide. Please visit the U.S. EPA website for information regarding Lead in Drinking Water.

New Water Connections
New connections to the Village's water main require a permit from the Community Development Department. Upon approval of plans and payment of fees, the Public Works Department will perform inspections for new services and install the water meter as required.
