Crime Prevention Alert
The Village of La Grange has recently experienced an increase in thefts from vehicles. Approximately 10 vehicles have been entered in the last 2 weeks. Items being taken include IPODS, GPS devices and cellular phones. In all of these cases the items were removed from unlocked vehicles.
A car was also stolen from La Grange on May 26, 2010. The car was unlocked and the keys were left in the auto.
Please be certain to remove your keys, lock your vehicles, and remove valuable objects from plain view as part of our overall effort to keep La Grange a safe community.
If you see someone parking a car on your block and walking away, call the Police! Parking in one location and then walking to another location to steal something is typical of what a thief would do. Any strange noises or dogs baking excessively could be another indicator.
As always, if you see any suspicious activity, call 9-1-1 immediately. The Police would rather respond and find nothing out of the ordinary, then to not be called until after the fact.
