[ARCHIVED] Storm Event - Monday, July 11, 2011

Com Ed reports that severe storms this morning caused extensive damage that is expected to result in a multiple day restoration effort. Over 400 crews are involved in the restoration work and Com Ed has called in an additional 200 crews from neighboring states to assist. Com Ed is focusing its efforts first on restoring power to life safety facilities (hospitals, nursing homes, etc) and its feeder systems. Once the larger grid elements are repaired, Com Ed will be moving restoration crews into residential areas.

Additional information regarding the status of the power outages will be provided as it becomes available from Com Ed.

Please report any power outages or downed power lines to Com Ed at 1-800-334-7661.

For residents in need during daytime hours, a cooling center is available at the La Grange Memorial Hospital. Please check on neighbors and those residents who may have special needs.
