Com Ed reports that damage from the severe storm on Monday morning has been extensive and that they continue to restore power this evening to over 300,000 customers in the Chicagoland area, including approximately 1,800 customers in La Grange.
Com Ed estimates that 90% of our area will be restored by midnight on Thursday, July 14. During the restoration efforts, intermittent outages may occur as the system is brought down for repairs and then back on line.
Additional information regarding the status of the power outage restoration effort will be provided as it becomes available from Com Ed.
Please report any power outages or downed power lines to Com Ed at 1-800-334-7661.
For residents in need, the La Grange Memorial Hospital has extended its cooling center hours to include limited overnight beds. Residents can enter at the emergency room entrance and ask for security. Please check on neighbors and those residents who may have special needs.
A dumpster for refrigerator and freezer food spoils only will be made available for La Grange residents starting on Wednesday, July 13 after 9 a.m. behind the La Grange Public Works Department on Washington Street just south of Cossitt Avenue. All other refuse must be placed at the curb on the regular pick up day.
Public Works will continue to pick up fallen tree limbs and branches over the next 1-2 weeks. Please place tree debris in the parkway next to the curb for collection.
