Managing storm water run-off and proper drainage are two important community development priorities for the Village of La Grange. One way that residents can have a positive impact on this issue is to collect rain water and utilize it for non-potable purposes such as watering gardens and washing cars. Community benefits include reducing the amount of storm water which enters the Village’s sewer system, and keeping storm water from flowing onto neighboring properties. It is also a “green” and less expensive alternative to using water from the tap.
The Village would like to advise residents that the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) has announced that rain barrels are available for purchase to residents of Cook County at a cost of $51 per barrel. Rain barrels can be ordered on line at www.mwrd.org and available for pick-up at various locations. Available pick-up locations and times are noted on their website.
