ComEd will undertake its first major electrical system reliability improvement project within the Village since the severe weather and corresponding power outage events this past July. This work has been coordinated between the Village and ComEd as a direct result of citizen concerns communicated to the Village and upon a review by ComEd of its system performance records.
Commonwealth Edison will replace approximately 1,115 feet of underground cable on Edgewood Avenue between Birks Court and 51st Street beginning Monday, December 5. This cable replacement project is one of several upgrades planned for this circuit, which serves a large geographic area generally bounded by Hillgrove Avenue to the north, Plainfield Road to the south, Waiola Avenue to the east, and Howard Avenue in Western Springs to the west. The replacement cable project and future circuit upgrades will benefit approximately 366 customers in La Grange.
The work will take place within the public right-of-way. Access to all driveways and roadways will be available during construction. Com Ed has indicated that residents should not experience any outages while this work is being performed. Please click on the link below for more detailed information regarding the project. The work is expected to take approximately one week to complete.
