[ARCHIVED] Com Ed's Outage Alerts Program

Com Ed has announced an enhanced two-way texting system in order to allow residents to report and receive outage related information. Subscribers will receive real-time outage status updates and power restoration confirmation via text messaging.

Individuals already subscribed to the system can simply text the word “out” to 26633 (ComEd) to report an outage at the location Com Ed has associated with their cell phone number in order to receive regular updates on the status of their outage until service is restored.

New subscribers should visit ComEd.com/text to provide information related to your account. Required information includes either the Com Ed account number, the account holder’s social security number or the primary phone number on the account.

New subscribers will receive a confirmation text-message that they successfully subscribed, and will immediately be enrolled to receive notifications on their cell phones or pagers when an outage has been reported at their address.

Com Ed does not charge customers for the notification, but wireless carriers may have message and data fees.
