With the current dry conditions and long range forecasts of continued dry weather, the Village is asking to residents to use water wisely and to be cautious with the use of outdoor fireplaces and fire pits.
While the Village’s water system is operating normally at this time, the Village is encouraging residents to exercise good water conservation practices. For example, to the extent possible please water your lawn, garden and plants early in the morning. Not only is this the most effective time to apply moisture to plants, it also reduces water consumption as watering during the heat of the day results in water loss due to evaporation, prompting homeowners to water more and more frequently. Watering early in the day also moderates water demand over the course of a 24-hour period. Smoothing demand helps with maintaining more consistent water pressure and helps to maintain necessary water storage in the event of fire flow, a water main break or other significant events which may place stress on the Village’s water system. Please consider refraining from watering your lawn between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The La Grange Fire Department is asking residents to be cautious with the use of outdoor fireplaces and fire pits as the dry weather conditions have hastened fire tender. Special consideration should be given to not leaving a fire unattended, no matter how well contained, and to thoroughly douse outdoor fires before retiring indoors.
