[ARCHIVED] La Grange Road Train Station Incident

Earlier this afternoon, an incident occurred at the La Grange Road Train Station whereby a car exiting a parking stall drove into the south wall of the commuter lobby area, causing damage. One minor injury was reported as a result of the incident.

Burlington Avenue is currently closed between La Grange Road and the Calendar Parking Lot as a result of the incident, but stores and restaurants are open for business.

Metra personnel are on-site performing the necessary temporary repairs, which are expected to take several hours to complete. Once the vehicle has been removed from the Station, and the area is deemed safe, Burlington Avenue will be reopened to motorists.

Residents are advised to be aware of the following:

1. The west half of the Station, including ticketing services, will be closed for the foreseeable future. Please make alternate plans to purchase tickets.

2. If it is safe to do so, the east half of the Station will be open during regular hours to accomodate commuters during inclement weather.

3. Periodic updates regarding repairs and re-opening status will be provided as more information becomes available.

Service advisory information is also available on the Metra website at www.metrarail.com.
