On November 6, 2012, the referendum authorizing the Village to arrange for an “opt-out” electricity aggregation program passed by a margin of about 65% (4,301 yes votes to 2,276 no votes). Thereafter, the Village Board adopted an ordinance authorizing an electricity aggregation program and directing staff to begin developing the program.
A contract with a consultant to assist the Village with the technical aspects of the program was approved by the Village Board on January 14, 2013. The Village has scheduled two public hearings to discuss the electricity aggregation program. The first will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, and the second on Monday, February 11, 2013. Each meeting will be held in the Village Hall auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
A Plan of Operation and Governance will be finalized after input is received from the public. That plan will explain to customers and potential bidders how the aggregation program will operate, how customers are enrolled in or out of the program, how new/outgoing residents may participate, and like matters.
