[ARCHIVED] Village's Proposed FY 2013-14 Village Budget

The Village’s proposed FY 2013-14 Village budget is now available for residents to review. (Please note, this is a large file which may take several minutes or more to download. Once downloaded, users can easily navigate the document as separate links have been created for each section and sub-section).

The budget is the Village’s most important policy document as it sets forth the Village’s spending priorities over the next five years and how those priorities will be funded.

A series of workshops were conducted last fall, at which time the Village Board provided staff with consensus direction on a number of budgetary issues in the development of the proposed FY 2013-14 Village budget. The proposed budget has been constructed based on that direction.

Capital improvement priorities were established by the Village Board at a workshop in January 2013.

The Village Board will review operating expenditures at a budget workshop on Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the lower level conference room at the Village Hall beginning at 8:00 a.m. Residents are invited to attend.

Residents are encouraged to read the “Village Manager’s Message” as it provides an executive summary of the budget document.

The proposed Village budget, as may be amended by the Village Board, will be adopted in April 2013. The Village is required by State law to adopt an annual budget prior to the beginning of the fiscal year to which it applies, which in this case is May 1, 2013.

Citizen comments concerning the Village budget are welcome at any time during the process. Feel free to address any correspondence to Village President Liz Asperger at easperger@villageoflagrange.com . Comments will be shared with the entire Village Board. While a public hearing is held prior to budget adoption to provide residents with a final opportunity to comment on the proposed budget document, the Village budget is viewed as a “living document”. Consequently, residents are invited to comment on Village revenues, expenditures or fiscal policies at any time of the year.
