As a result of the storm event that affected La Grange early Saturday, July 24, the State of Illinois has declared Cook County as a disaster area.
The Village of La Grange is working closely with the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to attempt to provide assistance to homeowners impacted by flooding.
As Cook County cannot provide financial assistance unless the federal government declares the impacted areas to be a disaster area, data must be compiled to substantiate the amount of damage caused by the flooding. If approved by the federal government, the declaration would allow residents to appy for federal disaster aid programs, including low-interest repair loans. Officials caution that criteria for assistance is very precise and likely will not cover personal possessions, furniture and appliances except for those residents who meet certain income guidelines.
If you experienced property damage during the most recent storm event, please complete the Data Collection Questionnaire and return it to the Village by dropping it off at the La Grange Police Department located at 300 W. Burlington Avenue, or by e-mail to Andrianna Peterson, Assistant Village Manager at apeterson@villageoflagrange.com. Please return your completed form by Friday, August 13.
