The Village has entered into a one-year agreement with FirstEnergy Solutions to provide eligible residents and small business customers with electricity supply savings. The Village has secured a base program rate of 4.86 cents per kWh which is a 19.6% savings compared to the ComEd rate of 6.05 cents per kWh from June, 2013 to September, 2013. Starting in October, 2013 through May, 2014, the savings will be 19.1% as the ComEd price drops slightly to 6.01 cents per kWh. This program includes an 18% renewable "green" energy component that is a higher percentage than what is required by the State's Renewable Portfolio Standard.
Eligible residents and small businesses will be automatically enrolled in the base program, unless they choose to "opt-out" of the program. For more information about the program and the "opt-out" option, please click here.
Residents also have the option of choosing a 100% Renewable Energy Option. For an additional .03 cents per kWh (rate increases from 4.869 cents per kWh to 4.899 cents per kWh), FirstEnergy pledges to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (REC's) to cover 100% of your electricity supply requirements. To enroll in this program, please visit www.fes.com/Lagrange or call FirstEnergy at 1-888-651-5200.
Eligible residents and small businesses will soon receive a letter from FirstEnergy explaining the program options in more detail. The letter will be on Village letterhead and signed by the Village President. No one from the Village or FirstEnergy will call you on the telephone or visit your home to request personal information regarding the program.
