The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is asking Illinois residents to participate in a national earthquake preparedness drill on Thursday, October 17, 2013.
The purpose of the drill is to raise awareness that earthquakes can occur in Illinois, and educate residents about how to "Drop" down to the floor, take "Cover" under a sturdy desk or table, and "Hold On" until the shaking stops.
Residents can receive more information about the voluntary drill by reading the event press release or online at www.shakeout.org/centralus. Participants can also register for the drill at the same website.
Additional information regarding emergency planning, including the development of family disaster plans, is available on the Illinois Management Agency website at www.ready.illinois.gov or the Village's website at www.villageoflagrange.com.
