Hanson Material Service Quarry has announced that they will resume normal operations, including blasting activities, beginning Monday, March 17. For more information, please click on the press release below.
The Village continues to work closely with Lyons Township Quarry Council and Hanson Quarry to collect information regarding the source of the tremor that occurred last November and the mitigation of potential future incidents.
To assist with data collection efforts, Northwestern University has installed additional monitoring equipment in the quarry vicinity. The resumption of quarry blasting in order to gauge any seismic impacts of the blasting events may assist in their analysis. The results of the analysis will be shared with the public as it becomes available.
Residents should continue to use the Lyons Township Quarry Council hotline at 1-866-934-3278 to report unusual or disruptive quarry blasting. Alternatively, residents can visit the Lyons Township Quarry Council website at www.ltqc.org which provides information regarding quarries operating in our area as well as information on how to file a complaint or comment regarding quarry activities.
Hanson has advised that residents who filed a damage claim related to the November 4 incident should have already received an inspection from a Hanson contractor. Further, Hanson advises that individual reports regarding these inspections will be provided to each claimant over the next several weeks. If you have questions regarding a damage claim, please contact Hanson at 1-866-934-3278.
