The contractor will prepare to excavate and re-grade the driveway and approaches on the south side of the Stone Avenue Train Station beginning Monday, April 14. The entire area in front of the station from the street to the south platform will be enclosed with fencing in order to perform the necessary work.
Please be advised that the driveway in front of the station will not be accessible during construction. Alternatively a temporary commuter drop-off area to the west of the station driveway will be designated. Commuters that are dropped-off should use the designated accessible route to the platform on the west side of the station.
Moped and bicycle parking will continue to be provided during construction, however mopeds should park in the temporary designated area that has been established north of the current parking location.
The mailbox which was previously located in the circle driveway has been relocated across the street on the southwest corner of Burlington and Stone Avenues.
The ticket agent will be accessible during regular business hours throughout the construction process, although portions of the Station itself will be closed at various intervals.
For public safety, commuters, pedestrians and motorists are urged to obey and comply with construction signage, avoid entering the construction zone, and be aware of construction workers and equipment in the area. The Village urges the use of adjacent sidewalks and encourages you to make adjustments to your travel schedules as needed to compensate for construction activities.
Metra, and the BNSF Railway and the Village of La Grange appreciate your continued patience during the renovation of the Stone Avenue Train Station which is anticipated to be completed in June.
