[ARCHIVED] Crime Prevention Alert

The Village of La Grange experienced an increase in thefts from vehicles between July 17-18, 2014. Approximately 8 vehicles have been entered and items taken. The impacted area is between Madison and 7th Avenue in the 600 and 700 blocks. The items being taken are IPODS, GPS devices and cellular phones. In every one of these cases the items were removed from unlocked vehicles and were in plain view.

Please be certain to remove your keys, lock your vehicles, and remove valuable objects from plain view as part of our overall effort to keep La Grange a safe community.

If you see someone parking a car on your block and walking away, call the Police. Parking in one location and then walking to another location to steal something is typical of what a thief would do. Any strange noises or dogs baking excessively could be another indicator.

As always, if you see any suspicious activity, call 9-1-1 immediately. The Police would rather respond and find nothing out of the ordinary, then to not be called until after the fact.
