As previously announced on the Village’s website and by e-notification, IDOT plans to repair the deteriorated intersection of La Grange Road and Burlington Avenue.
After further discussion between the Village with IDOT, both entities have agreed that the safest, most efficient and least disruptive method to make the repairs is to fully close the intersection during the day.
The benefits caused by this temporary inconvenience to Village residents, businesses and commuters are as follows: (1) a highly compressed work schedule from seven days to two days; (2) an expanded scope of work from asphalt patching to resurfacing; and (3) increased pavement longevity as a result of the expanded scope of work.
Intersection closure will occur on Wednesday, August 18 and Thursday August 19, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Traffic control barricades and signage will be placed on Tuesday. The asphalt surface will be ground and removed on Wednesday. Paving will occur on Thursday. The project will conclude on Friday after the application of striping.
Regional traffic will be detoured from La Grange over to East Avenue, using either Ogden Avenue or 47th Street, depending on one’s direction of travel. Local traffic will be detoured to use Ashland Avenue and Bluff Avenue.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this closure may cause.
Should you have any questions regarding this project, please contact the Village of La Grange Public Works Department at (708) 579-2328.
