On August 22, 2014, the Village experienced a high intensity storm that exceeded the capacity of the sewer system. In response to the storm, resources have been deployed to clear catch basins and debris, sweep streets, and address resident service requests.
Residents are asked to exercise caution when approached by unsolicited and unknown individuals offering to assist with services during any emergency. Always check contractor references prior to agreeing to services offered. For more information please contact the Community Development Department at (708) 579-2320.
Residents in need of service are asked to contact Public Works at (708) 579-2328 or the Village Hall at (708) 579-2316.
Temporary shelter for residents in need of a cooling center is available beginning Friday, August 22 through the weekend. The continued need for the shelter will be re-evaluated on Monday, August 25th. These conditions can be especially dangerous for older adults.
If you, a family member or neighbor are in need of such assistance, go directly to the Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital located at 5101 S. Willow Springs Road. Use the emergency room entrance (open 24 hours), ask for security, and indicate the need for the emergency shelter. Hospital security will provide an escort to the designated area. For additional information or assistance, please call the Village's Emergency Dispatch Center at 9-1-1.
