The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has advised that the Village of La Grange will receive the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Village’s FY 2014-15 budget document. This is the twentieth (20th) consecutive year that the GFOA has recognized the Village for its budget presentation.
The award demonstrates a commitment by the Village Board and Village Staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To qualify for the award, the Village satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines specifically assessed how well the Village budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and as a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
This is a significant accomplishment as La Grange is one of only 1,424 entities throughout North America presented with this prestigious award this year.
The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
