[ARCHIVED] Holiday Safety

The Village would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles, homes and garages during this holiday season. Do not leave valuables – gifts, portable hank-held devices such as iPods, GPS devices and cellular phones or purses in open view in your car. Take them with you, lock them in your trunk, or cover them in a discrete way. This is the time of year when thieves do their own form of “window shopping.” They look into parked cars for gifts and other merchandise, and they will break through car windows to get at such valuables.

As thieves also look for opportunities to steal deliveries of packages left on front porches, please keep your house locked. An unlocked door is an invitation to thieves to enter your home and steal an unattended wallet or cell phone.

If you hear or see something that is suspicious to you, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 immediately. We would rather have you call the Police Department when something seems wrong and find nothing than to not be called until after an incident has occurred.
