[ARCHIVED] Com Ed Line Clearance

ComEd has scheduled overhead utility line clearance in the La Grange area from approximately January through March 2015. Utility line clearance involves trimming of trees and pruning shrubs and other vegetation which may interfere with electrical wires.

Regular line clearance improves reliability since trees interfering with electric wires can cause an interruption in service and can be a safety hazard. ComEd schedules tree trimming for each circuit every four years as mandated by energy regulatory agencies. This year La Grange has been identified for this cyclical tree trimming work generally between Brainard Avenue and Stone Avenue from 48th Street to Plainfield Road and north of Plainfield Road to 51st Street between Spring Avenue and Madison Avenue. Tree trimming may or may not be required on your property depending on the circuits that are part of this year’s program. Impacted addresses have received a postcard explaining the program in more detail.

Tree trimming will be performed at no charge to the resident by a company hired by ComEd, using qualified arborists specializing in utility work. Branches and other brush created as a result of the trimming work will be removed by the Com Ed contractor. Please note that Com Ed does not trim trees around private service drops for properties.

If you have any questions regarding this maintenance activity, you may call Com Ed at 1-800-EDISON-1 (1-800-334-7661) and ask to speak with a vegetation management representative.
