[ARCHIVED] Road Closures - Sewer Televising

The Village would like to advise residents of two roadway closures planned to occur as part of the Village’s sewer televising program. The first closure will be on Tilden Avenue at the Indiana Harbor Belt (IHB) Railroad. A complete closure of Tilden Avenue from Shawmut Avenue to the BNSF railroad tracks will be required for this work. In order to reduce the traffic impacts from this project, the work and roadway closure is being scheduled at night between 9 pm and 6 am on March 30 through April 3, 2015. Please note that the roadway will be reopened to traffic each day. Signs will be posted in the area designating the detour route for motorists while the work is being completed. Please use Kemman Avenue, 31st Street, Ogden Avenue and/or La Grange Road for alternate truck routes. Also, please let any delivery companies know of the crossing closure and alternate truck routes as well.

The second roadway closure is planned for Cossitt Avenue between Brainard Avenue and Park Avenue during the week of March 30 to April 3 between 7 am and 5 pm. This work is scheduled to occur during the LTHS spring break so as to minimize conflicts with school operations. Signs will be posted in the area designating temporary daytime detour routes for motorists while work is being completed.

The purpose of the sewer televising and cleaning program is to maintain the Village’s sewer system by removing debris from within the sewers, assessing the condition of the pipes with special cameras to record pipe conditions, and identifying areas that require immediate repair. The information collected from the televising is then used to aid in future infrastructure planning and mapping objectives. Please note the closures will occur on subsequent days should weather or progress delay the work.

We apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this work. If you have any questions, or if there are any special circumstances that require coordination, please contact the Department of Public Works at (708) 579-2328.
