[ARCHIVED] Crime Prevention Alert

The Village of La Grange has experienced an increase in thefts from vehicles since April 30, 2015. Approximately 15 vehicles have been entered and various items have been taken. The impacted area is primarily south of 47th Street and east of La Grange Road. The items taken range from wallets, change and electronic devices. In each one of these cases the items were removed from unlocked vehicles.

Please be certain to remove your keys, lock your vehicles, and remove valuable objects from plain view as part of our overall effort to keep La Grange a safe community.

If you see someone parking a car on your block and walking away, call the Police. Parking in one location and then walking to another location to steal something is typical of what a thief would do. Any strange noises or dogs barking excessively could be another indicator.

As always, if you see any suspicious activity, call 9-1-1 immediately. The Police would rather respond and find nothing out of the ordinary, then to not be called until after the fact.
