[ARCHIVED] MWRD Open House - La Grange Village Hall Auditorium

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is performing a preliminary engineering study in the Plainfield Road corridor area to look for possible ways to address the flooding problems that occur. The limits of the Plainfield Road Corridor study are Willow Springs Road on the west, 47th Street on the north, Joliet Road to the south, and IL 171 (First Avenue) on the east, and includes portions of LaGrange, Countryside, McCook, and unincorporated Cook County. MWRD is coordinating with the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and local communities to identify problem areas and possible solutions.

The study area of MWRD’s project includes the area in La Grange south of 47th Street and is in addition to the Village of La Grange’s storm water improvement initiatives, which include the Brainard Avenue Floodwall and the 50th Street Storm Sewer Improvements. The Village is working collaboratively with MWRD to identify regional solutions that will support current Village initiatives that further reduce flooding and support regional storm water management systems in the area for the long term.

In order to receive community feedback, MWRD will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, July 30th at the La Grange Village Hall (53 S. La Grange Road) to provide information on alternatives to reduce the impacts of severe storms. All interested parties are invited to attend anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to review information and provide feedback about the study findings to date and potential solutions being evaluated to address flooding problems in the area.
