Commonwealth Edison will be replacing all existing electric meters in La Grange with smart meters starting in mid-July, 2016. The majority of the replacement work in La Grange will take place in August, 2016 (please see installation schedule below).
For most residential customers, the work will consist of replacing the existing meter located outside of the home. If the meter cannot be accessed, a ComEd representative will contact you to schedule an appointment.
The installation generally takes ten minutes or less and customers may experience a brief interruption of electric service.
Customers should expect a phone call approximately one week before the installation of the new home or business smart meter.
Installations will be completed between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
All installers will be uniformed, ComEd employees who will have identification to perform the work.
At no time will the installer ask customers to provide account information or pay a fee.
