[ARCHIVED] Police Incident

On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, a resident in the 600 block of S. Catherine called the police to report a suspicious incident in progress. Police Officers responded and determined that several nearby vehicles had been illegally entered and ransacked. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an attempt was made to steal one of the entered motor vehicles.

The method used to commit the crimes is similar to those used in recent high end automobile thefts in nearby communities where the offenders sought unlocked vehicles to steal and potentially use to commit crimes.

As a result of the police investigation, three male juveniles from Chicago were charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Vehicle Theft Conspiracy and Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle. One of the offenders was also charged for a similar incident in another jurisdiction.
