[ARCHIVED] La Grange Road, Ogden Avenue, and Locust Avenue Intersection Improvements

The La Grange Road, Ogden Avenue and Locust Avenue Intersection Improvement Project is tentatively planned to start on Monday, April 17, 2017. This project is a cooperative effort between the Village, IDOT, and Uptown La Grange to improve traffic and pedestrian safety at this intersection.

Construction is expected to occur throughout the summer and fall with an anticipated completion date in November, 2017 depending on weather. Generally the contractor will be working between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and depending on progress, Saturday, from 8 am to 5 pm.

In order to construct the project, La Grange Road and Ogden Avenue will be limited to one lane in each direction during various periods of the project. We anticipate substantial traffic congestion through this intersection and surrounding area especially during the early morning and evening commutes. We recommend that motorists select alternative routes to avoid the anticipated congestion at this intersection.

Please drive cautiously through the work zone and be aware of equipment and workers, and as always the use of mobile phones while driving is prohibited.

During the project, the contractor will maintain access to Locust Avenue, Uptown Development, Lot 14 and Gordon Park through the entrance on Ogden Avenue. Also, pedestrian access will be maintained to these facilities with a temporary walkway on the north side of Ogden Avenue to La Grange Road.

We plan to provide periodic updates on construction operations, changes to traffic detours and progress through notifications similar to this one. Also, construction notices of impending construction activities that may affect traffic, parking, utilities, or other issues will be provided in advance of those operations.

Lastly, in advance of the project Nicor gas will be relocating several gas mains within the intersection starting the week of March 20. The gas mains are required to be relocated to avoid conflicts with the new traffic signals. Localized temporary lane closures and detours will be required to accommodate this work. Nicor does not anticipate any disruption to gas service as part of this relocation work.

Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. We will work with IDOT and the contractor as much as possible to minimize the inconveniences associated with this project. The end result will be an improved intersection that will provide many years of service. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Public Works at (708) 579-2328.
