The Villages of La Grange, LaGrange Park, and Western Springs announce the launch of consolidated emergency dispatch services effective March 20, 2017.
The Lyons Township Area Communications Center is a new state-of-the-art telecommunications center located in the La Grange Police Department.
“The consolidation of dispatch services will provide for enhanced police, fire and emergency medical dispatch services. Telecommunicators that currently serve the three communities will transfer to LTACC and continue to provide the high-quality professional service that our residents have come to expect”, reports Kimberly Knutsen, Executive Director of LTACC.
The Villages of La Grange, La Grange Park and Western Springs have been working collaboratively over the past several years in a concerted effort to share public safety services.
After a compatibility study in 2010 to identify opportunities for shared public safety services and a technical study in 2013 focusing on public safety communications, the governing boards for each Village approved resolutions in 2014 authorizing a design phase to outline the major elements of an intergovernmental agreement and the recruitment of a project manager and director for the center.
The Villages entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement and hired an Executive Director in 2015.
For non-emergency services including parking, La Grange residents can continue to contact the Police Department at (708) 579-2333 or the Lyons Township Area Communications Center at (708) 352-2059.
In the event of an emergency, residents should continue to call 9-1-1.
