[ARCHIVED] BNSF Crossing Maintenance Closure- Ogden Avenue

The Village would like to advise residents that the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad is planning to close Ogden Avenue at the BNSF railroad crossing in order to perform bridge repairs. The scope of work includes replacement of all railroad track, ties, crossing mats and asphalt in order to keep the track in serviceable condition.

A complete closure of Ogden Avenue from La Grange Road to East Avenue will be required for this work from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm on three consecutive Sundays (August 13, 2017 August 20, 2017 and August 27, 2017.)

Traffic will be detoured to East Avenue, 47th Street and La Grange Road. Signs will be posted in the area designating the detour route for motorists while the crossing is under construction. Traffic delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid the work zone. We ask that motorists plan accordingly. Please note that all schedules and work progress are weather dependent.

Residents may also experience a temporary increase in noise levels associated with railroad equipment performing the necessary work during these hours. Trains passing through the construction area will also be sounding their horn in order to alert work crews.

Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. Should you have any questions regarding this maintenance activity, please contact BNSF's Manager of Safety Passenger Operations, Brian Soyk at (630) 692-6297.

Alternatively you can also call the Department of Public Works at (708) 579-2328 with any questions, comments, or concerns.
