The Village is pleased to announce that the La Grange Road, Ogden Avenue and Locust Avenue intersection improvement project is nearing completion. The project, which started in April 2017, was a collaborative effort between the Village, IDOT, and Opus to improve traffic and pedestrian safety within this corridor.
Project improvements included the installation of a new traffic signal and pedestrian crossing at Ogden Avenue and Locust Avenue, a new right turn lane from west bound Ogden Avenue to north bound La Grange Road, turning radius improvements at the four corners of the intersection of La Grange Road and Ogden Avenue, installation of a new storm sewer on Ogden Avenue and the installation of new sidewalks along the north side of Ogden Avenue between La Grange Road and Lot 14. Roadway, street light and traffic signal improvements are also included in the project.
The contractor recently completed the installation of the traffic signals. The next step will be to put the signals into service. Weather depending, the traffic signal at Ogden Avenue and Locust Avenue is tentatively scheduled to be turned on Thursday, December 21, 2017. We anticipate the traffic signal at La Grange Road and Ogden Avenue will be put into operation soon thereafter. Motorists and pedestrians are cautioned to be aware of the new signals and traffic patterns in the area. Signs will also be posted altering motorists of the new signal. Pedestrians are encouraged to cross at the signalized intersections.
The Village would like to express our appreciation to residents and motorists that were impacted by the project for their patience. If you have any questions regarding the project, or new traffic patterns or procedures, please do not hesitate to contact Public Works at (708) 579-2328.
