The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has advised that the Village of La Grange will receive the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Village’s FY 2010-11 budget document. This is the sixteenth (16th) consecutive year that the GFOA has recognized the Village for its budget presentation.
The award demonstrates a commitment by the Village Board and Village Staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. The Village had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The GFOA guidelines specifically assessed how well the Village budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and as a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
This is a significant accomplishment as La Grange is one of only 1,214 entities throughout North America who are being presented with this prestigious award this year.
The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
