On August 2, 2018, a bat was found in the vicinity of the 200 block of North Kensington Avenue. The bat was determined to be rabid by the Illinois State Public Health Laboratory. If you have been exposed to or bitten by a bat, please contact your doctor immediately.
Residents are asked to keep animals on a leash when outside of the home. If your animal does not have a current rabies vaccination, please have your pet inoculated with the rabies vaccine.
Cook County advises that residents should not handle any bats, skunks or other wild animals. If any bats or skunks are found down or dead on your property or roadway, please call the Cook County Department of Animal Control at (708) 974-6140.
