The Village of LaGrange has joined other communities from the region to express concerns and receive additional information regarding air quality reports involving the Sterigenics facilities in Willowbrook. The Village has also received written information from Sterigenics as well as state and federal agencies regarding emission testing and data collection.
The Village has and will continue to be in regular contact with our state legislators and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) regarding this matter. The IEPA has provided a website to provide more information to the public regarding Sterigenics, including links to related documents and resources. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has also provided a website and additional resources for residents.
The U.S. EPA hosted an open house and public meeting to provide updates on the agency's work to better understand air emissions of ethylene oxide from the Sterigenics facility in Willowbrook on Thursday, November 29, 2018 which Village representatives attended.
According to state and federal environmental agencies, there is no immediate health threat to the Village. The Village will continue to work closely with all parties to ensure there are no long term exposures to our residents.
