The Village
announces the commencement of the reconstruction of the Village Hall surface parking lot (southwest corner of 6th Avenue and Harris Avenue) and Lot 8 (southeast corner of Madison Avenue and Harris Avenue).
As a green infrastructure initiative and in partnership with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MRWD), these parking lots will be reconstructed with permeable pavers similar in design to the Village commuter parking lot located at Burlington Avenue and Brainard Avenue. In addition to improving the driving surface, this project will reduce the discharge of storm water to the Village's sewer system.
In order to accommodate construction, the parking lots will be closed during the duration of construction. Construction is planned to start on Monday, June 3 and be completed by August 16, 2019 before school is back in session. In partnership with District 102, alternate parking locations have been identified throughout the downtown to accommodate the temporary parking displacement. A map showing these alternate parking locations is included in this notice. Additionally, signs will be posted directing motorists to these alternate parking locations. We recommend that you notify customers and staff of the impending construction and alternate parking locations. Generally, the contractor will be working between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Farmers Market that occurs every Thursday morning throughout the summer in the Village Hall lot will be partially relocated to Harris Avenue between La Grange Road and the alley to the East.
