The Village
announces that IDOT plans to make repairs to the Ogden Avenue Bridge between East Avenue and Locust Avenue beginning June 3, 2019. The project scope will consist of replacing the expansion joints across the bridge, repairing deteriorated bridge deck, and fixing supporting bridge columns. The contractor for the work is D Construction, Inc.
The work is scheduled to be completed in multiple phases. The first phase of work, which is expected to begin in June, consists of concrete repairs to the columns supporting the bridge deck. No changes to traffic patterns on Ogden Avenue are expected as part of the first phase of the work. The second phase of the work consists of repairs to the expansion joints and bridge deck, and is expected to start in mid-August. The anticipated completion date for the project is October, 2019. Generally, the contractor will be working between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
For the second phase of work starting in August, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Ogden Avenue. The significance of these lane restrictions is that we anticipate substantial traffic congestion along this roadway and surrounding area especially during the early morning and evening commutes. We recommend that motorists select alternative routes to avoid the anticipated congestion along the roadway.
We recommend that visitors and delivery companies be notified of the impending construction. Throughout the project the La Grange Police Department will be monitoring local roadways for violators of local traffic laws such as truck traffic on local roadways. Please drive cautiously through the work zone and be aware of equipment and workers, and as always the use of mobile phones while driving is prohibited.
We will provide periodic updates on construction operations, changes to traffic detours and progress through notifications similar to this one.
