The water main replacement project on Ashland Avenue is nearing completion. One of the last components of the work is the installation of the new water main below the 54” brick sewer on Cossitt Avenue. This work is planned to start the week of July 8th. The work will require the closure of the Ashland Avenue and Cossitt Avenue intersection for up to 4 days due to the size of the excavation required to install the water main.
Madison Avenue, Catherine Avenue, Harris Avenue, and Elm Avenue will be used as the temporary detour routes. Local access will be allowed on Ashland Avenue and Cossitt Avenue, but traffic will not be able to go through the intersection.
We recommend notifying visitors and delivery companies of the impending construction. Throughout the project the La Grange Police Department will be monitoring local roadways for violators of local traffic laws. Please drive cautiously through the work zone and be aware of equipment and workers, and as always the use of mobile phones while driving is prohibited.
If you have any questions regarding project activities, please call the Department of Public Works at (708) 579-2328 with any questions, comments or concerns.
