The La Grange Environmental Quality Commission invites you to "Green Your Halloween" by composting your retired Halloween pumpkin. Composting pumpkins can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and return valuable nutrients to the soil. Adding composted material to soil can also help increase storm water absorption which can prevent erosion. Compost your pumpkin in your yard or by participating in a composting event.
The La Grange Environmental Quality Commission has partnered with the La Grange Park Sustainability Commission to compost retired jack-o-lanterns on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
The
event will be held at the La Grange Park Department of Public Works, 937 Barnsdale Road, La Grange Park.
The Village of La Grange has a commitment to "green initiatives" which enhance energy efficiency and environmental awareness.
