[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update - April 1, 2020

coronavirus

Governor Pritzker announced that he will sign a 30-day extension of the state’s disaster proclamation to limit the spread of COVID-19 on April 1.  The disaster proclamation provides the Governor the authority to sign additional executive orders, extending the Stay at Home order from March 20, and suspending on-site learning in K-12 schools through the month of April.

On Friday, March 20, Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2020-10 requiring all Illinoisans to stay in their homes to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.  The order prohibits gatherings of any size and closes all nonessential establishments including most retail, recreation and entertainment businesses.  Restaurants are still open via delivery and carry-out and the order does not prohibit essential activities like going to the grocery store, receiving medical care, or taking your pet for a walk. The stay at home order began Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m.

Village Administrative offices are closed to the public.  Essential village services will continue as normal.  Residents are asked to please use the convenient online or phone payment systems to transact village business.  Information regarding specific services and options is available here.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has significant impacts on our businesses. To assist our local businesses, the Village has compiled a list of resources and information.  All La Grange residents are asked to please continue to support our restaurants and retailers via delivery and carry-out options or by purchasing gift cards for later use.

The Village Board will conduct a Village Board meeting by telephone on Monday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m.  The Village Hall will be closed and residents are encouraged to listen from home on Comcast Xfinity Channel 6 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.  The audio of the meeting will also be available on Facebook at La Grange IL, You Tube and the Village website.   Public comments will be taken by email at apeterson@villageoflagrange.com at any time prior to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 13.

As this situation evolves, the Village will continue to provide updates and post additional resources on the Village website.  We ask that you please continue to do your part to keep the community safe and prevent the spread of illness.  Unless you need to leave home for essential services, medical care or work, please stay home. Please contact the Illinois Department of Public Health with specific questions about Coronavirus (COVID-19) by calling (800) 889-3931 or email DPH.SICK@ILLINOIS.gov.
