[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update - May 1, 2020

coronavirus

On April 30, 2020, Governor Pritzker extended the Stay at Home Order through the end of May to limit the spread of COVID-19.  The disaster proclamation provides the Governor the authority to sign additional executive orders, extending the Stay at Home order from March 20, and suspending on-site learning in K-12 schools through the end of the school year.

The Order requires face coverings to be worn in indoor public places such as grocery stores and pharmacies.  Face coverings are also required in other public places anytime that six feet of distance from others cannot be maintained.  The requirement would apply to all individuals over the age of two who are medically able to tolerate a face covering or mask.

If you must visit an essential business, it is important that you maintain distancing and wear face coverings to protect yourself and others. The CDC reports that even those who do not have symptoms can transmit the virus to others. The cloth face coverings recommended are not N-95 nor surgical masks but can be fashioned from household items using common materials. A number of COVID-19 videos have been posted to the Village’s cable television channels, including how to make your own face covering (Comcast channel 6 and U-Verse channel 99).

The extension of the Order also allows non-essential businesses, in addition to restaurants, to offer curbside pick-up and delivery options beginning May 1.  Our restaurants and businesses have expressed their deep appreciation to area residents for the outpouring of support for them during this time.  Please continue to support all of our businesses through curbside pick-up and delivery options as often as possible.

On Friday, March 20, Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2020-10 requiring all Illinoisans to stay in their homes to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.  The order prohibits gatherings of any size and closes all nonessential establishments including most retail, recreation and entertainment businesses.  Restaurants are still open via delivery and carry-out and the order does not prohibit essential activities like going to the grocery store, receiving medical care, or taking your pet for a walk. The stay at home order began Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m.

Village Administrative offices are closed to the public.  Essential village services will continue as normal.  Residents are asked to please use the convenient online or phone payment systems to transact village business.  Information regarding specific services and options is available here.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has significant impacts on our businesses. To assist our local businesses, the Village has compiled a list of resources and information.  All La Grange residents are asked to please continue to support our restaurants and retailers via delivery and carry-out options or by purchasing gift cards for later use.

As this situation evolves, the Village will continue to provide updates and post additional resources on the Village website.  We ask that you please continue to do your part to keep the community safe and prevent the spread of illness.  Unless you need to leave home for essential services, medical care or work, please stay home. Please contact the Illinois Department of Public Health with specific questions about Coronavirus (COVID-19) by calling (800) 889-3931 or email DPH.SICK@ILLINOIS.gov.
