Dear Resident -
This week has continued to result in unprecedented actions by federal, state and local government agencies to keep new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) from rapidly increasing and overwhelming our health care system and first responders.
The Governor’s order requires residents to stay at home as much as possible beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, aside from meeting their basic needs. All residents continue to have regular access to essential businesses and services such as grocery stores, pharmacies, medical facilities, gas stations and banks. Only essential travel is permitted at this time and must be conducted using social distancing.
While Village offices are closed to the public, there is no reduction in essential Village services which includes emergencies, water distribution and refuse collection. Residents are encouraged to use on-line payment and communications options whenever possible via the Village website or by calling the Village at (708) 579-2300 with questions. Continue to call 911 in an emergency as always.
If you are experiencing symptoms of any illness, please call your health care provider, such as your primary care physician or health clinic. Please do not walk directly into an emergency room or doctor’s office.
Please continue to do everything possible to minimize contact and slow the spread of the virus. Our most vulnerable residents are counting on us to protect them.
La Grange residents are very generous and have a passion for supporting all aspects of the community which we are proud to call home. Together, we can support each other during this difficult time. Please check on loved ones and neighbors, purchase gift cards from our restaurants and retailers for later use or to share with hard working hospital workers, and use our online guide to businesses and services to see how you might be able to help our community social service agencies safely.
Finally, our restaurants and retailers need you. While you cannot dine-in, please consider delivery and convenient curbside pick-up options whenever possible. In addition to being generous, our residents are also creative. I have heard of virtual dinner parties featuring carry-out or delivered food from our many restaurant options. While we are physically separated, we can still find ways to stay connected to each other and our community partners that make La Grange unique, special and vibrant.
On behalf of the Village Board, I want to thank you - our residents - for your patience and cooperation during this challenging time. I also have great respect and gratitude for our staff, first responders, health care providers, and state and federal agencies, that continue to work tirelessly day and night to help keep our community safe and healthy.
