In accordance with State statute, the Village Board is scheduled to convene a public hearing on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. for purposes of receiving public comment regarding the proposed FY 2020-21 Operating and Capital Improvements Budget.
The public hearing represents the conclusion of a six-month long public budget development process. The process began in November 2019 with a pre-budget development workshop that included pension funding and consideration of the preliminary property tax levy, a meeting to discuss and adopt the final 2019 property tax levy in December, a workshop to discuss capital projects in January and a workshop to discuss operating budgets on March 7, 2020.
In addition, copies of the proposed budget document have been made available for public inspection at the Village Hall, the La Grange Public Library and on the Village’s website since February 28th.
Pursuant to Governor Pritzker’s orders related to COVID-19, the Village Hall is closed to the public and the April 13 meeting will be held by telephone. A notice of the Public Hearing has been posted and published. All interested citizens will be provided an opportunity to submit written and oral comments and questions regarding the entire budget for fiscal year 2020-21 by telephone at (708)579-2300 ext. 503, or by e-mail at publichearing4.13.2020@villageoflagrange.com. All resident comments by telephone or e-mail must be submitted no later than 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2020.
Finally, we also note for the public that the budget is a living document. Consequently residents are invited to comment on Village revenues, expenditures, or fiscal policies at any time of the year.
The proposed FY 2020-21 Operating and Capital Improvements Budget is scheduled for final consideration and adoption at the next regular Village Board meeting scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2020.
