The Village’s urban forest is an important community asset providing many benefits that include cleaning our air, protecting our drinking water, and creating healthy communities. There are 9,294 trees within Village parkways made up by 105 different tree species. More information regarding specific trees including an interactive Village map of trees can be found in the Village’s tree inventory map. As a fun activity, look up the tree in front of your house and let people know what it is by using chalk on the sidewalk.

Each year the Village celebrates Arbor Day with one of the schools in La Grange. While the Village’s formal Arbor Day celebration this year is being planned for the fall due to COVID-19, the Village continues to formally recognize Arbor Day and the importance of trees in our community. In recognition of the Village’s efforts, La Grange has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for thirty-seven consecutive years.
Please join us recognizing and celebrating Arbor Day in the Village.
