[ARCHIVED] Village President - Letter to Residents - COVID-19 - May 18, 2020

On May 5, 2020, Governor Pritzker unveiled a phased plan to reopen Illinois by region called "Restore Illinois". The five-phase plan is guided by public health metrics designed to provide a framework for reopening businesses, education and recreational activities in each phase.

The IDPH is providing daily updates on their COVID-19 website (available via this link) regarding the metrics used to determine if a region is able to move to the next phase of the Plan. The Village continues to be in regular contact with local, state and federal agencies and the Governor indicated this week that the State appears to be on track to move to the next phase (Phase 3) of the reopening plan on May 29 if the established parameters continue to be met.

The State has also announced a new portal designed to connect workers with available job and career training. Residents can access the information at

Congratulations to all of our Class of 2020 graduates. The La Grange community has had a role in preparing our young people for future success and we are very proud of their achievements.

Our community has displayed incredible acts of kindness and care for each other during this time and I want to thank you for your continued adherence to the Governor’s order. Until it is no longer necessary, it remains important for all of us to continue distancing measures and wear face coverings when in public places.

I also want to continue to express our appreciation to hospital workers, essential workers and public service employees for working every day to keep our communities healthy, safe and vibrant.

Finally, yesterday we were impacted by a significant regional rain storm. We are continuing to work closely with the MWRD in efforts to reduce flooding in La Grange. Republic Services will be picking up flood damaged items on your regular refuse pick-up day – no stickers will be required. Please visit the Village’s website for more details.
