[ARCHIVED] Planned Demonstration in La Grange on June 11

La Grange

The Village has been made aware of a planned peaceful demonstration on Thursday, June 11 beginning at 5 p.m. in La Grange. The event organizer is a La Grange resident. The demonstration will begin at the entrance to the Village parking lot located at 7th and Harris Avenue and then head east on Harris Avenue to Bluff Avenue, south on Bluff Avenue to Lincoln Avenue, and then east on Lincoln Avenue to East Avenue.  At East Avenue, the group will head north to Ogden Avenue and then east on Ogden Avenue to Maple Avenue in Brookfield.

Streets along the route will be temporarily closed as necessary to accommodate the demonstration safely.  Ogden Avenue will be temporarily closed from La Grange Road to East Avenue for a portion of the event.  When safe to do so, Ogden Avenue will be reopened from La Grange Road to East Avenue where it will be closed during the portion of the event located in Brookfield.

The La Grange Police Department is working with event organizers and partner agencies. We expect this will be a peaceful gathering and respect the right for people to peaceably assemble, but remind all participants that unlawful behavior will not be tolerated. Police will continue to have a heightened presence throughout the community.

The event may draw larger than typical crowds in La Grange. Participants are reminded to wear face coverings and maintain six feet of distance where possible.
