ComEd has advised the Village of its intent to perform electrical system reliability improvements within the Village. This work has been coordinated between the Village and ComEd as a direct result of citizen input and upon a review by ComEd of its infrastructure condition, system needs and performance records. The scope of work for this project includes the installation of underground conduits and equipment in the following locations:
- Ashland Avenue from Harris Avenue to Calendar Avenue.
- Calendar Avenue from Ashland Avenue to Entrance of Lot 5.
- Alley between Harris Avenue and Calendar Avenue from Lot 3 (Madison Avenue) to Ashland Avenue.
- Lot 5 from Calendar Avenue to Alley.
ComEd will be coordinating the work with the property owners impacted by the project in order to answer any questions, coordinate access, and discuss landscaping restoration. Those directly impacted should have or will receive in the near future a letter from ComEd explaining the work and providing contact information for the project.
The alley between Harris and Calendar Avenues from Lot 3 (Madison Avenue) to Ashland Avenue will be closed while work is completed. The Village will coordinate with refuse companies to ensure refuse pickup continues during the work. Each day at 3:00 pm the alley will be reopened to traffic. Impacted businesses are asked to let delivery companies know of this temporary closure.
ComEd has indicated that the work is scheduled to begin the week of July 20th and will be completed over the next several months. Work is scheduled to occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic on impacted streets will remain open during the project. Also, on-street parking will be restricted at times as needed to accommodate construction. Please be aware of posted parking restriction signs.
The Village will continue to work closely with ComEd to help facilitate ongoing equipment upgrades and other targeted improvements throughout La Grange to address outage-related concerns.
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. We will work with ComEd to minimize inconveniences associated with this project. If you have any questions about this project, please contact the Department of Public Works at (708) 579-2328.
