The last day to accept voter registration or transfers of registration for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election is October 6 by mail and October 18 online. The State of Illinois has issued guidance for State polling locations to protect the health and safety of voters.
You may register to vote online at the Illinois State Board of Elections website with your Driver’s License or State I.D.
If you think that you may already be registered to vote, you can check by using the State Board of Elections Voter Registration Lookup.
Residents may also register to vote in person at one of the six Cook County locations, or from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays in the Administration office on the first floor of the Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road. Two pieces of identification are required, including one with your current address (photo ID’s are not required).
Any registered suburban Cook County voter may request a mail-in ballot online at the Cook County Clerk’s Office. Ballots will be mailed to those who have requested them beginning September 24.
Once your registration is verified and application processed, the County will send a paper ballot to the mailing address that you designate in your application. The deadline to apply, including email verification, is five days before an election (October 29, 2020). Applications for a mail ballot are also available at the Village Hall.
This year, as an alternative to mailing in ballots, drop boxes for mail-in ballots will be located at over 50 Early Voting sites beginning October 9 for some locations and October 19 for others. Voters can drop off their completed mail-in ballots from 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekends. Mail-in ballots will be collected on a daily basis and will be time stamped. Voters who applied for their mail-in ballot online will receive an email at the time their mail-in ballot is sent to them, as well as an email notifying them when the completed ballot has been received. Further information about the secure drop boxes can be found here.
Early voting will take place Monday, October 19, 2020 through Monday, November 2, 2020 at multiple locations throughout Cook County including Hodgkin’s Village Hall, 8990 Lyons St., Hodgkins, IL 60525.
Additional information regarding Early Voting, Vote by Mail and a list of Early Voting sites are available on the County’s website at www.cookcountyclerk.com or by calling 312-603-0906.
