The Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad plans to remove and replace worn out track ties within La Grange as part of a scheduled maintenance program. The work is currently planned throughout the night on Friday, 9/18 at 7:00 P.M. to Saturday, 9/19 at 9:00 A.M., and again from Saturday, 9/19 at 7:00 P.M. to Sunday 9/20 at 9:00 A.M. The work is planned during these hours to limit disruption to commuter rail service. These dates and times may be adjusted by the BNSF depending on weather and progress.
In order to replace the track ties, closures of the BNSF rail crossings at Ashland Avenue and Kensington Avenue will be required while the work is completed. During the work, traffic will be able to cross at La Grange Road, Brainard Avenue and Gilbert Avenue. Please be sure to let any delivery companies know of the crossing closure.
Residents may also experience a temporary increase in noise levels associated with railroad equipment performing the work during these hours. During this time all trains passing the work zones may be required to sound their whistles. The BNSF will also be using a lighting rack to illuminate the work zone.
The Village will work with the BNSF as much as possible to minimize the inconveniences associated with this project. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Public Works at (708)579-2328.
