Beginning Monday, August 7, the Brainard Railroad Crossing and Hillgrove Intersection will be closed to all vehicular traffic for approximately two weeks to allow for the construction of a water main. The tentative reopening is planned for Friday, August 18 prior to the resumption of school the week of August 21.
Pedestrians will be able to cross the tracks during the closure. Please use extra caution when traveling in the vicinity of the Brainard Avenue work area.
A water main will be installed under the railroad tracks necessitating the closure. Trains will continue to run, as this closure is only affecting vehicular traffic. BNSF will have flaggers onsite throughout the work.
In order to avoid a second closure, the work in the Hillgrove Intersection will be performed at the same time as the work on the railroad crossing.
A detour route and signage will be in place directing all traffic flow either east to the Kensington Crossing or west to the Gilbert Crossing. The entire route of Brainard Avenue from 47th Street to Ogden Avenue will be signed to divert traffic in the area due to the ongoing construction.
We apologize for any inconvenience this infrastructure improvement may cause. Please know that your patience and cooperation is truly appreciated.
