Better than anticipated construction conditions have allowed for a revised opening date of Tuesday, August 22nd, for the Brainard Avenue railroad crossing. The watermain replacement project occurring along Brainard Avenue had required the closure of the railroad crossing to vehicular traffic. Pedestrian crossings on both the east and west sides of the Brainard Avenue railroad crossing have remained open throughout the work.
Until the opening on Tuesday, motorists are encouraged to follow detour signage and use the Kensington or Ashland Avenue crossings as alternatives to the Brainard crossing. This construction project continues to proceed on schedule, with contractors installing an average of 100 feet of watermain per day. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is estimated to be October 31, 2023.
